Equipment Operator Instructor

Under the general supervision of the Supervising Equipment Operator Instructor, conducts assessments to determine the ability of staff to operate equipment; conducts training programs in the proper operation and maintenance of a wide variety of self-propelled construction equipment including but not limited to:
small and large trucks (including those used in one-person plowing), loaders, excavators, grader, pavers, snow blowers, bulldozers, and rollers on both an individual and group basis; instructs operators and supervisors in proper safety procedures; demonstrates equipment maintenance procedures; corrects deficiencies; prepares operators to obtain commercial driver licenses and learner permits; and certifies equipment operators and supervisors in the use of equipment. This position requires travel to various residencies within the region and throughout the state to conduct training programs. Overtime is sometimes required. Responsibilities may also include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations. Additional duties will be discussed during the interview.

Salary Range:
From $42986 to $55008 Annually
Minimum Qualification
To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law. Candidates must possess a valid New York State Class A Commercial Driver's License with no air brake restriction, at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter. If a viable eligible list does not exist, a provisional appointment may be made in accordance with Civil Service Law. Candidates who accept a provisional appointment must take the next competitive examination and be reachable on the resultant eligible list in order to be considered for permanent appointment to the position. The minimum requirements for taking the examination are:
Four years experience in the operation and maintenance of at least three of the following types of self propelled heavy construction equipment:
cranes, excavators, graders, pavement wideners, industrial or crawler-type tractors, large dump trucks with a plow and wing configuration, pavers, front end loaders, and backhoes; AND six months experience as a Recognized Instructor in the operation and maintenance of complex heavy construction equipment or trucks over thirteen tons in weight. A recognized instructor is someone who has provided classroom, shop, over-the-road or work site training on complex heavy equipment. At the time of appointment and continuously thereafter, you must have a valid New York State Class A Commercial Driver's License with no air brake restriction. A valid New York State Class B Commercial Driver's License with no air brake restriction, or its equivalent from another state or territory, will be required at the time of the performance test.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
